"My brain is not my own. It belongs to MS. Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune disease that attacks the myelin sheaths covering the neural nerve pathways of the brain. Treatment keeps the destruction at bay for now. Further destruction is always on my mind. But my mind is my own, and being my own, I don't allow it to be destroyed. It is constant warfare. My brain and my mind and my self, grasping and grappling to stay intact. I am not my disease, I am myself, because I use my mind to create art. I transfer my fear, anxiety, and hope by the many processes of creation. Printmaking is my outlet to keep my mind my own."
